Rehabilitation Services
It is the philosophy that rehabilitation facilitates
self-management, independence and personal responsibility
for the resident, making rehabilitation a vital part
of a residents recovery.
Our rehabilitation staff may work with residents who
have had a stroke, bone fracture, amputation, swallowing
difficulty or just general decline and weakness in mental/physical
functioning.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapists work with resident needs for
independence as they go about their activities of daily
living. Occupational Therapy assists the resident in
becoming as independent as possible with bathing, dressing,
grooming, feeding, toileting and functional mobility.
Adapting the environment and or teaching the use of
specialized equipment maybe are necessary to do this.
Speech Therapy
Our Speech – Language Pathologist works with
the resident to resolve problems in speech production,
expressive and receptive language, memory, higher-level
thinking and swallowing.
Communication disorders can isolate an individual and
may prevent them from telling staff and family their
wants and needs. Swallowing Difficulties or dysphasia,
places the resident at risk for aspiration pneumonia,
weight loss, weakness and dementia like symptoms.
Physical Therapy
Physical Therapy addresses the physical needs of the
residents, such as ambulation (walking), transfers (getting
in and out of bed, the bathroom, etc…), balance,
strengthening and increasing tolerance to these many
activities. |
